September My Birthday Month

What an incredible feeling I had Today!
It's been just shy of 6 weeks since
my surgery and today I actually did a little
Treasure Hunting...

I stopped at a local garage sale
this gentleman had a lot of Vintage goodies
in a box I spotted these sweet little orphans
$20 and they were mine!

It's really strange because the last few
months since my cancer diagnosis I had no
desire to do any treasure hunting and
after the surgery my recovery was a little
harder then I had imagined... I thought I was
never going to be "ME" again...

September Is My Birthday Month and
ironically it is also Uterine Cancer Awareness Month..

September 20, 2013 is Endometrial Cancer Awareness Day.

I hope to share my experience to educate others
to listen to your body keep pursing medical experts
until they actually run the right tests that screen for
Uterine Cancer...It's treatable

Learn: It is the most common gynecologic cancer. It
usually occurs around the time of menopause
-Pap test does not screen for uterine cancer

Listen: To your body for symptoms, bleeding after menopause
or abnormal, irregular vaginal bleeding in younger women.

Act: If a biopsy result is positive, seek care from a
gynecologist oncologist.

Happy birthday!! Mine was Thursday so we share a great birthday month!!!

I have just recently seen/read heard of your dealing with this type of cancer. You have been in my prayers. What an inspiration to other bloggers you are by sharing your journey. Although i wasnt yet diagnosed with any cancer I had to have a radical hysto due years of PCOD and endimetriosis along with being a DDS drug baby that put me at high risk of cervical cancer over 15 years ago at 39. By the time i knew things were bad i had dealt with years of painful cycles, cycst breaking and basically gluing my inner body organs together. Although my surgery had complications, i never regret having it all taken out and have been an advocate to other women dealing with those type of ailments when i can share or help. Just be sure you listen to your body and rest, that type of surgery can take at least 6 months to really begin to fully feel yourself again

Love how you are looking this head on and i know you will empower and hopefully help save others lives too!!

Love and hugs, Lorena

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing better! What an awful ordeal to go through. I had cervical cancer in my early 30's and am very vigilant about my health. About 6 years ago I had a biopsy done because of irregular bleeding. Thank goodness it was OK, but better to act on these problems. So glad you did!
