Did I short change my Tammy Doll

What was I thinking.....

Back in the 60's there were so many
New and wonderful Toys for us kids..

And of course one of the hottest
girls toys was Barbie!

If I can remember correctly on my 7th
or 8th Birthday I was gifted not only one
Barbie but two and a couple of Ken Dolls too!

Oh yes and around the same time
I also had a couple of Midge Dolls!

But The Tammy Doll what about her?
Yes, I was also gifted a Tammy Doll somewhere
along the way...

She came in a pretty PINK Box..
and had a darling flirty face!
But for some reason she was less played with...

Maybe it was that silly blue gym suit she
arrived in, to be honest it reminds me of
the Gym outfits worn at an all
Girls Catholic School
Is that what took away
her glam for me!

Or was it her figure compared to Barbie
this gal Tammy was flat chested
and a bit on the chunky side!

Well like I said at the beginning of my Post
I really don't think I gave my Tammy Doll
the respect she deserved..
And when I sold off some of my Dolls
I think I sold her..
So I've decided to give Tammy a 2nd chance
She will now be the Special Vintage Doll
that I share with my Grand-peeps
It's crazy how expensive Tammy is
back in 1960's she was $3

So because of the cost it will be a
slow collection to acquire I'll be
Looking for deals like this

Handmade Vintage Sweater $3.99
it's gonna be fun!

Or this deal....
Tammy's little Sister "Pepper"
found her on Craigs list $15
She has not arrived yet so
sorry for the poor picture ):

Kinda funny isn't it?

I was born in 1965 but loved all the 60's Barbies. I also loved Francie & Casie! I never had a Tammy but my older sister did. I think she is sweet however as a kid I always wondered why she was looking sideways! I also liked Dawn dolls and flatsies! Liddle Kiddles! YEAH!

I totally love this quest. The funny thing, I love recreating my childhood with some of my mother's favorite toys. I think I played with her toys more than my own. I hope you have great success and I promise if I find anything Tammy related at an estate sale, I'll let you know and send it your way.

I don't know why but I don't remember Tammy from my childhood. I played with dolls but I was a real tom boy, too! I spent a lot of time out in the woods with my dog. Have fun collecting! ♥

I have my Tammy doll, her ski togs, cheer leader outfit, and several other outfits. She looks like new because at age 7 or so, I just wasn't that excited about dressing and accessorizing her! So maybe she should come out again and join the coloring book and card game with the Tammy logo too!

You've found the cutest clothes for your Tammy doll! I love the brown and white checkered dress! I just picked up a few vintage doll dresses and and armoire to hang them in, and I've been knitting mini sweaters for next year's Christmas gifts. I'm going to look for a button down pattern like the one you've shown. Adorable!

Oh, I remember the love for those dolls and the excitement on Christmas morning! I'm sure this will be a fun quest for your granddaughters.

I love Tammy. I wanted a Tammy when I was little but never got one. Lot's of Barbies, but no Tammy. A couple of years ago my teenaged son found a Tammy, in a case with about 10 original outfits and bought it for me for Christmas. That is one of my most cherished gifts. BTW- you can buy a pattern for making Tammy's outfits. I have one and have made a few of them.

I think Tammy is under appreciated and I don't understand why. She is adorable and I am so happy that you are giving her a wonderful home and spoiling her with new clothes too. Have fun!

I STILL have my Tammy doll, her case and some of her clothes! I don't know what in the world I did to her hair, it looks like I chopped it off and colored it with a sharpie marker :( Poor Tammy, I never gave her due respect either, preferring my Midge doll. I should dig her out and share some pictures soon. Have a great weekend, Nan

I guess I missed the Tammy doll back then I named my 1st daughter Tammy.
I had seen the movie with Debbie Reynolds and she was Tammy. So when it came time to name my darling new baby that came to my mind LOL. Now I wish I had named her a family name
Anyway I'll look for a Tammy doll to give her as a gift

I know that I had a Barbie or 2, but not sure if I had a Tammy doll. My mom sold them when we moved before I started 7th grade...Have fun with your grand peeps, playing dolls.

Tammy is so sweet! I didn't have one but had Barbies. My favorite Barbie was the Western Winky Barbie but her eye always stuck. I loved my aunts barbies from the 60s and I have her Midge, Barbie and "Fred"-not sure what "Fred's" real name is but that is what I always called him. He was Ken's friend with red hair. I can't wait to see what/who you find next :) Have a wonderful night, Holly

You know I am loving Tammy and her outfits! I have mine, and she is still in nice condition. I need to find her some neat outfits now. I did have Barbie too, but played with Tammy just as much. Have fun on your quest!

You took me down memory lane to my dear daughters toys. When I was young I had a walking doll and 2 wetty dolls, one black and one white and I just loved them, but sadly I had to give them to the children's hospital when I emigrated to Australia with my parents and brothers. Loves seeing your sweeties. Good luck with the hunt. x
